About Us

PlanNorth is the leader in commercial church architects, nonprofit architects, and architecture for private businesses, and can help you bring your project to life. If you’re looking for a design-build company, office designer, church designer, or architect, we can help!

Projects like nonprofits, places of worship, and privately owned businesses are unique when it comes to planning, architecture, and construction. Oftentimes the upfront needs are small, but super important to the success of a project, and can grow over time. At PlanNorth, we don’t shy away from the small project or work others might deem insignificant. Evaluating a piece of property, getting rough numbers together, or illustrating your ideas into 3D…we’ll jump right on it. In fact, we’ll treat it like it’s our own project. With our years of experience as architects for business, nonprofit, and commercial church architects, we know exactly how to translate your project’s needs into real-world action and results.

Principal Architect

Katie Burch, AIA

Katie is a registered Architect in Texas and Founding Principal of PlanNorth. An A&M graduate, Katie’s local work had been published by the American Institute of Architects and recognized by the United States Green Building Council. Katie’s business philosophy centers around inclusive merging of industry talent from all backgrounds and generations, playing off strengths of each team member to arrive at truly special architecture.

Katie loves helping the team to find their own strengths, and creating new ways for the team to work in an evolving technology-based world. Company culture is Katie’s number one focus. When she’s not working, she’s with her boys doing things 6- and 8-year olds like to do.

Senior Architect

Mandi Perez

Mandi is a registered Architect in Texas with over a decade of experience in design, building integration, and drawing coordination. Mandi has led production on dozens of PlanNorth projects and has the process down to a fine art, which she willingly shares with the team!

Mandi works remotely from the office in Wimberley, Texas. When she is away from her office/she-shed, she enjoys going to the river with family, music, and relaxing in her hammock.

Senior Architect

Sam White, AIA

Sam is a registered Interior Designer in Texas, and a registered Architect in Texas, Colorado, and California, with 30+ years’ experience in K-12, religious, commercial and residential architecture. After a full career in the Houston area, Sam joined the PlanNorth team in 2012 to concentrate on more intentional projects and to share his years of experience with the team. Sam is truly excellent with respect to design coordination with engineering consultants, and “catching” potential challenges before they occur – as only years of experience can enable. His design skills are top notch and he continues to mentor every member of the team daily.

When he’s not designing, Sam loves to travel and live music. He loves spending time with his two daughters, one granddaughter, and eagerly preparing for his second grandchild.

Managing Principal

Ken Burch, LEED AP

Ken is a LEED accredited professional specializing in Building Design and Construction, with previous work experience in Construction Project Management and Estimating. Ken joined the PlanNorth team full-time to lead the firm as Managing Principal. His responsibilities include Quality Control, Scheduling, and Construction Administration.

Ken enjoys collaborating with the team on unique projects, both large and small, and sharing what he knows with to assist clients; but when he’s not being asked how to save money on a design detail, he also enjoys hunting, and going to the beach or soccer and baseball games with family.

Operations Manager

Pam Mahon

Pam arrived to PlanNorth in 2017 with experience in Accounting, Banking and Property Management. After becoming a new mom, Pam was drawn in by the work-life balance of PlanNorth and now serves our team as the Operations Manager. Pam holds an MBA from Murray State University.

Pam enjoys being able to share her knowledge of accounting and business with the team, and experiencing one of our core values in the office…having fun! Outside of office hours, when she’s not answering accounting questions and becoming the office IT guru, Pam enjoys spending time with her family

Angelia Gerhard

After gaining experience in drafting and commercial interiors, in Houston and Fort Worth, Angelia moved to our town of Brenham to join the team as a Designer, and quickly moved into the role of a Project Manager. Angelia is and A&M graduate and a part of the 2017-18 Leadership Washington County program.

Angelia loves the encouraged creativity and collaboration of team members at PlanNorth. When she’s not collaborating on projects, she enjoys listening to live music with family and friends.
